On Saturday night, we all met up for the first "surprise" of the night... our transportation for the evening was a limo!
Of course, before the Moms could jump in and check it out, we had a few other curious onlookers who wanted to give it a test ride...
We all commented later in the evening that we should have at least let the kids take a spin around the block in the limo. Ooops. Next time guys! We were too excited to share.
We all said our goodbyes and ditched the Dads/kids for the night ---- YES, the ultimate Mother's Day gift. Then again, the guys and kids weren't too sad about us ditching them considering they all made a night out of it and ordered pizza and dumped the kids into the basement to play together.
After a quick photo opp, we were off on our way to mani/pedi appointments, except there was some sort of mix up with the times of the appointments and the spa looked at us like we were insane when we all walked in and declared we were there for our time slot... 30 minutes after they had us booked.
No worries - some quick googling and improvising (while the guys panicked back home!) and we had re-booked ourselves at another nail place further up the road a bit. More time to drink and cruise in the limo.
In the end it worked out perfectly because we had lots of time to kill before dinner.
Mani/pedi attempt #2 was much more successful.
Then, off to dinner at one of my personal favorite restaurants in Frederick, The Tasting Room. If you're local and haven't been, GO! The waitress immediately let us know that a credit card number had already been called in and our dinners had been taken care of by generous hubbies. Our response... we'll take a second round of drinks, please!
Several rounds of strawberry pineapple sangria later and we found ourselves on the Ticketmaster app. We had been trying to work out a summer concert date, but kept failing at pulling it together and then weather interfered with an option we had for earlier in the week. So, some googling and scrolling for a few minutes and we discovered The Total Package Tour! New Kids on the Block, Paula Abdul, and Boyz II Men. Hells yes - it's like my childhood cd collection (oh wait - I think NKOTB and Paula were actually on tapes) has come back to life.
Now, the booze may have influenced our quick decision making on this one, but I don't think any of us are regretting the decision to purchase. The best series of photos taken during the night were from across the table as I figured out that I have one touch purchasing on my phone and Courtney is calling her Dad to inquire about AMEX ticket buying discounts! Classic.
I never knew I had a "I'm strongly considering this" face until this picture!
Never a good sign when 2 phones become involved
The moment of truth... What does this button do???? Voila! Tickets!
Dinner was delish. The bill was taken care of (after I also had to inform Nick that I may have purchased $500 worth of concert tickets on his apple account) by the hubbies. We enjoyed our limo ride back to the hood and the driver even took us the long way so that we could enjoy every minute of our kid-free time cruising around drinking our wine before returning home to reality. At least my kids were fast asleep by the time that I stumbled home!
Perfect Mother's Day outing for the ladies. Thank goodness for my Mom crew. Who else can I text insane questions to (about any topic under the sun) at 3am and wake up to multiple responses just hours later?!? Or that time that I dropped Georgia off in the middle of the night so that I could go give birth to Grant! Who else can you binge watch "The Bachelorette" with and request their kids on your tball team so that you have people to socialize with during practices/games?!? Thank goodness the kids and husbands get along well too. He gets golf buddies and Georgia/Grant get built in friends. Nick and I both agree that the #1 thing that we love about our neighborhood are the people and friends that we've made here.
The perfect meme popped up on Instagram the next day and it summarized the night perfectly... only approve play dates with people who love Pinot Grigio as much as you do!
The next day, I also got to spend some quality time with this little clan o' mine too.
My best girl and I ready for lunch!
We went out for lunch at a local restaurant that we've always wanted to try out. It was the perfect weather for dining alfresco on their patio. Grant managed to eat 2/3 of the bread basket all on his own while the rest of us waited for our meals. The restaurant was very allergy aware, which is always a plus when dealing with a new restaurant and Georgia's allergies.
