2015 in Review...

Happy 2016!

Yet again, I've been a slacking blogger and taken off a few weeks.  This time, I'm pointing the blame at a virus that knocked me on my a&$ for the better part of a week and some holiday travel thrown into the mix.  I seemed to have caught whatever mystery bug that Georgia had at the beginning of December and it was humbling to say the least.  Nick had to physically tuck me into bed one evening and that was BEFORE we traveled to Massachusetts for the holiday week.  Once there, things went downhill and I found myself at the walk-in clinic the morning after Christmas.  No definitive diagnosis, but a round of antibiotics for swollen tonsils and glands seemed to have helped a bit.  I'm still worn out and fighting back, but starting to feel like my normal self again.

I still have lots of December activities to review and recap, but I also wanted to take a minute to reflect on 2015.  As always, we had lots going on each month...

January 2015

January kicked off with just one day of school before we had our first official snow day (fingers crossed that the year's weather turns soon so we can have some winter fun!).

Nick also surprised me with a belated 35th birthday present during MLK weekend in 2015... a surprise trip to Jamaica!  It was a quick trip, but we had beautiful weather and enjoyed just relaxing on the beach and by the pool for a few days...

February 2015

We rang in 2015 with a Superbowl party at our house and a big win for the Patriots.

We celebrated Valentine's Day at school and at home...

I officially kicked off training for the Cherry Blossom 10-miler and my knees were less than happy with my training plan...

February also brought Mimi back for her annual birthday weekend in Maryland...

We also realized that our daycare tuition was finally paying off when Georgia just started writing her name all over the place!

March 2015

March wrapped up our final snow day and the start of Nick's career as our GoPro videographer at all neighbor events!

In food allergy news, St. Patrick's Day brought Georgia great Irish luck and she passed her almond challenge at the allergist's office!

Nick was ready to hit the links by the end of March, but the weather had other ideas!

Mimi returned for some end of March fun and brought new toys with her...

April 2015

We kicked off Easter weekend with brunch and a bunny...

Mid-April brought the Cherry Blossom 10-miler and a picture perfect day to run downtown and earn a pretty medal...

The following weekend, Georgia joined me for her first official race...

We wrapped up April with a big Paw Patrol 4th birthday party for our girl...

Georgia and I celebrated her actual birthday with Mommy/Daughter manicures!

May 2015

May brought our annual family photo session with Stacey from Labor of Love Photo.  As always, she managed to find the perfect location and captured our little family in every shot....

We also had lots of visitors, including Grandma/Grandpa and Auntie and Uncle Andrew...

Memorial Day weekend brought lots of hot weather, the end of soccer season, the opening of our neighborhood pool and Mimi back to town!

June 2015

SUMMER!!!  Georgia and I lived up our freedom from school with lots of activities to keep us busy every day.  The farm, the library, the pool, etc.  We were always on the go!

We also celebrated Father's Day with some lobstah on the deck!

A rainy Saturday had us discovering the new bounce place in town with all the neighbors...

July 2015

July brought our annual trek north to Keuka Lake in upstate New York for some family fun with Nick's relatives.  We spent the week enjoying the lake, good company, and lots of quality play time with the cousins.  Small town Americana brought a 4th of July parade for everyone to enjoy...

We wrapped up the week with a giant luau party on the beach (with Daddy and Uncle Nick attempting to blow everyone up with their fireworks display!)...

The trip was also slightly bittersweet as it was the last time that we got to see Grandma Rosalie as a family.  I've always thought it was pretty amazing that Georgia was born into this world with not just one, but two great-grandmothers still alive.  Unfortunately, Rosalie lost her battle to cancer just a few short months after we spent the week with her at the lake.

Nick made a fabulous video recapping our wonderful vacation at the lake that he was able to show his grandma when he flew out to Ohio to say goodbye to her just a month later...

Before heading back to Maryland, we decided to head north of the border to check out Niagara Falls from Canada for a few days....

The rest of July had us home relaxing, enjoying the pool, visiting with Mimi, carnivals, and just letting summer happen!

Date night cooking class

August 2015

August brought more heat and lots of pool time, as well as the annual Brodeur trip to Maryland...

Since Maryland wasn't hot enough in August, we decided to head south and really ramp up the heat... Disney in mid-August!  Our brave little daredevil went on all the big rides and even convinced her Mimi to hit the roller coasters.

Hanging out with Elsa

Nick fired up the GoPro for another video summarizing the trip...

September 2015

September brought us back to the "norm" with the start of school for Georgia (her final year of daycare/PreK) and myself (year #13 of teaching).

Georgia also started playing t-ball...

Grandpa and Mimi both ending up visiting on the same weekend, so we took all the grandparents to the zoo on a beautiful fall day...

September also brought a new dance school, apple picking, and an opportunity to run a color run with some neighbors!

October 2015

October brought us heading to New England for a family wedding and brought excitement in the form of an emergency landing in NYC...

Nick and I followed up a New England wedding with a wedding weekend in Virginia...

Halloween seemed like a month-long event with multiple costumes and non-stop action, including Mimi visiting and our final t-ball game (in costume!), as well as Kate/Chan/Queen Lizzie coming to trick-or-treat with us...

November 2015

November brought fall photos at school...

A trip to the mall is never complete without a train ride with Daddy....

We took advantage of a beautiful fall day to head into Georgetown for some ice skating adventures...

Open house at dance gave me a sneak peek at all the fun Georgia has every week...

We wrapped up November with a Thanksgiving feast at Aunt Susan's and Uncle Malon's house on an unusually warm November day...

December 2015

December brought cookie bake, parties, and birthday fun!

You'd never know the kid was sick!

Christmas Eve was spent with Nick's brother and family in Massachusetts before we headed home to a new tradition... matching family pajamas!

Yet again with the unseasonable holiday weather... Christmas was downright WARM in 2015...

But later in the week, we did finally get our first hint of snow!

Onto 2016...
