Beachin' It!

With the forecast scheduled to be HOT and HUMID while we were in MA, we decided that a beach day was the perfect way to cool down.  Growing up, we always went to Hampton Beach across the border in New Hampshire.  It's a huge beach with lots of arcades and kid-friendly shops and stores.

Georgia hadn't been in the sand since our Bahamas trip when she was 19 months and she was NOT a fan!  So, we weren't sure what to expect.  In good news, she loved it...

Low tide in the AM

First dip in the COLD Atlantic!

G had a blast playing in the sand with her bucket and shovel.

But the real fun started when the tide started coming in and the waves grew in size.  She loved sitting in the breakers getting knocked over time and time again and spun around in the surf.

Getting knocked around

I can't remember the last time I saw my Mom in the freezing cold water at Hampton Beach.  Mimi is more of a dip-your-toe-in kind of lady.  But when your granddaughter drags you in, you don't argue... even when you can't feel your toes!

Having a blast!

Jumpin' in the waves!

One of the things I love most about Georgia is that she is so outgoing and social, especially with other kids, especially older kids.  She immediately found another little girl to play with on the beach.  Once this girl started running in and out of the breakers, Georgia jumped right in too.

We had to take a few snack breaks and a lunch break, but mainly, Georgia just wanted to jump in the waves and play!  Who needs a nap when the water is calling your name?!?  She is such a water bug!

Not happy that she was forced to take a break, but more than happy to eat an entire box of crackers!

Lunch break

After lunch, it was right back into the water...

However, when the tide comes in, so does more cold water!

"Cold, Mama!"

All in all, a great beach day!  In fact, it was so great that when Nick arrived from Maryland later that night, we planned another beach day for the very next day...

Cousin Lovin'...

Even before the great AC outage of 2014, we had already planned to be in MA at some point during the beginning of July for a few different reasons.

A - We had no plans for the 4th of July!

B - We always head to MA at some point for a week in the summer.

C - Nick's brother and his family bought a new house in MA and were moving in at the end of June.

Although I knew I wouldn't be much help on the home repair/project front, I figured I could at least kidnap my niece for the morning and get a fun-loving 3 year old out of their hair for a few hours!

I took the girls out to a local play gym/coffee shop that Sherrie recommended and they had a blast running around the place for a few hours playing, snacking and having fun.  Of course, trying to get a non-blurry picture of these two is a total and utter challenge.  SOMEONE is always on the move!

Thelma & Louise were quite adorable playing house together...

Would you like some coffee?

Taking turns playing store!

After playing, I took the ladies out to lunch at a nearby Panera Bread.  Eating lunch with two 3 year-old children is quite the scene.  Between bites, someone always had to use the potty, which meant dragging everyone into the handicap stall so I could supervise the other at the same time!  I was shocked every time we emerged from the bathroom to find our food still waiting for us on the table.

Ladies who lunch...

After a leisurely lunch, everyone had the yawns and seemed ready for nap time.  So, Georgia and I delivered Abby back to her parents and we headed home for some much needed snooze time.

But, the cousin fun wasn't done for the day.  We made an after dinner date for a frozen yogurt with Nathan and Matthew!  One of the best parts about Mimi's house is that Georgia can eat some of the non-dairy flavors at the local frozen yogurt place.

But, first... Georgia had to help Papa water the lawn!

We jumped in the car for the short ride to the FroYo and G was thrilled to see her big cousins!

While we were at the store, Nathan got up to wash his hands multiple times.  He later told his Mom that he wanted to make sure his hands were clean when he was touching Georgia because of her allergies.  Doesn't that just melt your heart?!?!  He is such a good big cousin!

Watching cartoons with the cool kids!

One of my favorite things about spending time in Massachusetts is all the great cousin time that Georgia gets to have with her cousins on both sides of the family!

Family Time in MA...

Georgia and I had lots of people to catch up with once we arrived in Massachusetts and we immediately had lots of visitors at Mimi's house...

Hugs for Mimi

Visiting with Auntie Pat

Showing Mimi how tall and strong she has gotten!

The real fun started when Auntie Lisa stopped by and it was time to water the grass.  Georgia convinced Auntie Lisa that running through the sprinkler was a great idea!

Luckily, all that running around and playing in combination with a very long car ride made for a wiped out girl by the end of the day.  Although she complained when I put her down for bed that night, I looked at the monitor a few minutes later and she was out cold... in a very lady-like fashion!

Best news... she slept in until almost 9am!

The next morning, we headed off to church in Nashua since Uncle Roger was saying mass.  Georgia did a great job during a long mass and she was so excited when she spotted her big cousins a few pews in front of us!  I was excited to see them too until I learned that my oldest godson is now taller than me.  SOB!!!  I knew the day was coming and I'm fairly certain he's going to tower over with me any day, but still...

Nathan is loving every second of being taller than me!

Flashback to when I was taller than him in recent years...

After mass, we headed back to Aunt Elaine's house to eat, chat, and catch up.

Brunch with the ladies!

Celebrating Matthew's birthday

Flashback 5 years ago when the "little guy" celebrated his birthday during Nick and I's wedding reception...

Or another one of my favorite pics - when Matthew turned 2 years old and sitting in coolers was all the rage!  How time flies...

The absolute highlight of Georgia's day was that Murphy got to go in OUR car for a short ride down the street to Auntie's house.  Georgia was beside herself with glee and narrated absolutely every single thing that he did during our short ride.  "Murphy's looking out the window!"  "Murphy is looking at me!"  "Murphy is licking my hand!"  Pure joy!!!
