The Dancing Queen...

A longstanding holiday tradition in our house is attending Nick's ACAS holiday party.  I have pictures going back quite a few years...

ACAS party 2008

For the past several years, we've attended Nick's holiday party with Georgia since it is a family party.  When she was only 7 months old, Georgia had a fabulous time and we even managed to sneak in a photo op with Santa...

Georgia & Santa - 2011

Of course, she only lasted for about 10 seconds before she realized that she wanted NO part of Santa...

And it's been that way ever since.  Last year, we didn't even get close to Santa during the 2012 party.  The 2012 party is an absolute blur because we didn't make it past cocktail hour.

2012 party

Georgia was an absolute maniac running around like a wild child.  I think we walked out of the party as most people were walking in!  So, we weren't quite sure what to expect this year...

Surprisingly, Georgia had an amazing time this year, which makes our time at the party that much more enjoyable!  The party was on my birthday, so we had a lazy morning and afternoon at the house watching the snow fall.  Georgia took a really late nap, which we figured would help her stay up a little later.  She loved helping me open all my birthday presents (and wearing my new watch box on her head!)...

Such a clown!

Happy birthday to meeeeeee!

When we walked in, the entire cocktail hour room was covered in balloons, which thrilled G!  We quickly made our way to the kids' room to decorate a gingerbread man.  Thankfully, this year, everything was labeled - the frosting, the candies, etc.  I think I probably gave the catering company a heart attack last year since I interrogated half the staff because everything was out of their original containers and I had no idea what Georgia could touch or not touch.  Someone got wise and helped out us food allergy moms!

Waiting in the kids' room was none other than Ms. Claus himself.  Georgia had been all talk in the car about how she was going to hug him and love him and sit on his lap... until she saw him.  Then, she tried to crawl into Nick's chest cavity!

Maybe next year, Santa???

Georgia had a blast decorating a gingerbread man, munching on candies, and finding a candy cane to chomp on.  The kids' buffet came out and Nick got clearance for her to eat the nuggets and the fries, which made everyone happy!

What a difference a year makes - 2012 vs 2013 parties

Saying hi to Auntie Susan and Uncle Malon

Before we knew it, the ballroom was officially open and the real party began.  The DJ invited all the kids onto the dance floor and that is where Georgia spent the rest of the night.  Nick and I had to take turns eating because she never wanted to stop dancing!  She had a blast...

Dancing and NOT letting go of that balloon

Georgia had another chance to check out Santa in the ballroom later on in the evening and she did manage to get a little closer this time...

Baby steps...

A little closer...

Still keeping her eyes peeled on the big guy!

We were beyond impressed with how well Georgia did all night long.  There were no meltdowns and she loved being on the dance floor with the other kids.  She even followed all the DJ's instruction.  At one point, he decided to split the girls and boys and asked them to coordinate on a dance.  Georgia didn't exactly lead the group, but she did follow along and watched the older kids to figure out what to do...

Lined up with the girls...

Huddled up to discuss a strategy for the dance-off

With a Santa hat!!

At 10pm, we finally called it a night and decided to make our way out.  Georgia got to pick up a few treats on the way out.  Luckily, Georgia slept in the following morning and Nick whipped up a special brunch treat using some of her candy from the night before...

Snowman pancake!!

And since the diva was quite the party girl, she demanded red toes like Mommy...

Relaxing after a long night of dancing with her freshly painted toes!

It will be interesting to see what next year's holiday party brings.  Hopefully more crazy dance moves!!

Cookie Bake 2013

Another yearly December tradition in our house is Cookie Bake with Nick's family.  It's amazing to see the photos over the years from this event, including...

The years when we were all childless and just hung out drinking in the hot tub, like in 2009!

Georgia's 1st time playing the piano at Auntie Susan & Uncle Malon's house in 2012

This year, because of a crazy weekend of events, we were only able to stop by for a short time.  But, as always, Georgia always has a great time running around the house.  This year, she loved playing with all the visiting kids from New York...

Playing the piano this year

Playing pinball with Daddy

After dinner, the kids showed off their musical talents and we were entertained by saxophone, piano and violin performances.  Georgia was thoroughly entertained...

Watching on....

Georgia ADORED one of the little boys from New York, Eric.  He made her laugh and she glued herself to him for the rest of the night.  The poor guy couldn't escape her.  She chased him around and screamed his name until she could find him!  She is relentless...

Unfortunately, we couldn't stay longer or join in the activities the rest of the weekend, but we always look forward to Cookie Bake every year.  And, luckily, a nice delivery of cookies showed up on our front steps the next morning!

Georgia's Holiday Party...

Georgia has been practicing several Christmas carols for the past few weeks in preparation for her school's holiday sing-a-long.  Whenever we tried to practice with her, she looked at us like we were crazy and wouldn't sing.  However, we witnessed complete performances on the baby monitor at night when she didn't realize that we were listening.

Nick and I made it to the performance just in time to see Georgia and NONE of her classmates sing.  All the kids just stood there looking like deer in the headlights while the teachers and parents sang...

Looking pretty bored with the entire performance

Georgia and her friends cuddled around their teachers and just watched as the adults sang and performed their class songs...

Giving us a wave as she left the performance

After the sing-along, we went back to her class for a little party with lots of sugary treats...

Checking out her plate of goodies

I was so disappointed that the next two photos were fuzzy because I love G's face in both of the pics...

Hanging out with Daddy at her party

We did manage to get a cute family pic...

So, without further adieu, here is the parent and teacher performance of the holiday songs (I apologize for my singing, ahead of time!!)...

Photo Book - Fall 2013

During one of our snow days last week, I managed to sit down and put together our fall 2013 book.  As always, we had lots of fun adventures, visitors, and lots of farms to visit!!  The fall book always seems like the easiest to make...

A special shout out to my friend, KK, who came to visit us and was DETERMINED to make the fall book after looking at all of G's photo books while she was at our house!!  xoxo

Photo books are the perfect gift for any occasion.

My Little Shopper...

Last weekend, we headed down to Chevy Chase for dinner.  We parked at an underground garage and emerged into one of the local shopping centers.  Georgia was enthralled with the giant Christmas tree in the center atrium and then discovered the "disco" stairs.  Let's just say that we easily could have been late to dinner because she didn't want to leave these fun steps!  Up, down, up, down, up, down, and repeat.  Needless to say, we had to go back after dinner for more entertainment.

Checking out the giant tree...

Best stairs ever....

Up and down, up and down...

We ate at one of my favorite Italian places in Chevy Chase.  The wait staff were fantastic and made sure that Georgia could eat the pasta safely.  To say that she INHALED her noodles is a gigantic understatement.  She went to town.  She was double-fisting forks at one point.  It was quite the sight...

Working on her pasta

INHALE!

After dinner, we returned to the stair kingdom to work off dinner.  While Georgia was going up and down with Nick, I ran into a few different stores.  Well, unbeknownst to me, Georgia wanted to join me in shopping.  In fact, she pushed Nick out of H&M and told him that shopping was just for her and Mommy.  Nick admitted that he is already living in fear for her teenage years and foresees lots of long weekends where he can't find either of us because we are off on some grand shopping adventure!

Our little fashion maven found quite a few looks that excited her in H&M...

She found an Elmo doll, a purse and a hat within 2 minutes of being in the store!

After all that excitement, sometimes you just need to kick me and relax by looking at the Christmas tree for a short time...
