Thanksgiving 2013...

We spent a quiet Thanksgiving week here at home.  Since we're so used to traveling over long holiday weekends, it was nice to just spend a few days at home lounging around and relaxing.  Being home didn't stop us from feasting on Thanksgiving.  Nick was in charge of the turkey while I whipped up all the sides...

Getting ready to carve up our 19 pound bird!

The sides - stuffing, mashed potatoes, squash, broccoli casserole, gravy, corn, cranberry, and rolls!

Why it is always a good idea to wear stretchy pants on holidays!!

Of course, Georgia still thought that we were going to Mimi's house for Thanksgiving.  When I picked her up from daycare on Wednesday afternoon, Georgia's teachers told me that she informed them that she was going to Mimi's house to eat "turkey and corn on the cob."  When we got home, she promptly told me that she was leaving to go to Mimi's house!  The long drive didn't seem to bother her, so she changed her tune and told us that Mimi was coming to us.

I had high hopes to get out and run the neighborhood 5K turkey trot on Thanksgiving morning, but those who know me well, know that I don't run when the temperature is in the single digits.  Typically, Thanksgivings have been warm here in Maryland, but this year was a rare exception.  It was FREEZING all week long!

Although we did spend a good portion of the long weekend just hanging out in our jammies, I did manage to squeeze in time for my most favorite Black Friday activity - shopping!  Georgia and Nick enjoyed a quiet Friday morning while I was off hitting all the good sales in the area from 4am until late morning.  After a quick nap in the afternoon, we were off to our next adventure... ICE! at National Harbor and Georgia's first fireworks!  Stay tuned...

Christmas Prep 2013...

I love Christmas. Not, just love like some people love it.  I LOVE CHRISTMAS!  I would shout it from the mountain tops if I could.  It is absolutely 100% my most favorite day of the year.  In fact, I love the whole month.  What is not to love - good food, family/friends, presents, my birthday, decorations, lights, shopping, fun events, parties, drinks, etc.  LOVE IT ALL!

Since it's a short holiday season with Thanksgiving being late this year, we decided to put up our tree fairly early.  And by "we," I mean that I bullied Nick into helping me set it up early!

As always, we had some new ornaments this year.  We typically buy an ornament while on vacation or while doing "special activities" that mean something to our little family.  The new additions this year include...

Our bear ornament from our first trip to Clark's Trading Post this summer

In honor of Georgia's 1st movie in the theater - Dusty from "Planes"

Nick and I bought this ornament on Bourbon Street during our NOLA trip to celebrate his 35th birthday last spring

Georgia has been loving the tree this year.  She helped put on all the ornaments and "helps" with moving them all around.  She loves to try and put all the ornaments on the same branch.  Thank goodness for carpet!!
