22 Months!

Another month and another photo shoot with a crazy toddler!  Technically, Georgia didn't have a 22 month "birthday month anniversary" in February since there was no February 29th this year.  So, we'll just celebrate March 1st this month...

Georgia's equivalent of telling me to kiss her a$*!

Egg Challenge...

Last week, Georgia and I (voluntarily) spent an entire morning at her allergist's office.  We were there for our official "egg challenge."  Since her allergy numbers dropped on her last blood test, the doctor wanted to see how she would react to egg ingestion.  The challenge consisted of Georgia eating small amounts of a baked product containing egg over the course of several hours as the office monitored her breathing, skin, etc.  I spent the night before baking a delicious banana bread, as well as some back-up cookies, to ensure that she'd eat while we were there.

Thank goodness for the iPad, since Georgia spent most of the morning playing games and entertaining herself on the device.  I had to even use our old trick from the Bahamas where I put the food on the screen and she ate the food without really realizing what she was doing.

The best news - no reaction!!!  She had the smallest little red bump under her lip after eating an entire slice of the bread.  However, the allergist was thrilled with how she did, especially because she essentially ate an entire serving of the item.  The plan is that over the next few months we're going to slowly introduce baked egg to her in various products. - most should have been baked in a hot oven for at least 30+ minutes (to assist in the breakdown of the egg protein, which is what she has the reaction to).  So, the following weekend she ate a cookie with egg in it and we're going to monitor her skin from now until the summer.   We're hoping that this is great news and that hopefully one day in the future she can even eat regular eggs that haven't been baked for 30+ minutes.  Baby steps....

Quick Trip...

After some scheming with Melissa and Lisa, I decided to sneak home to Massachusetts for the weekend to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday with our family.  Of course, it's never a February trip to New England without a little snow.  Luckily, I arrived home on Saturday morning with no drama.  Melissa grabbed me at the airport and we got to enjoy some quality shopping time before the big party.

It definitely took my Mom a few extra seconds to realize that I was standing in Lisa's kitchen with the rest of the family when she arrived to the party.  Of course, I predicted her next thought - "Is Georgia here?"  Unfortunately, Georgia didn't make the 24 hour trip and was home in Maryland with Daddy.  So we had to party without her...

The 2013 birthday girls

As always, celebrating with my family is always a great time.

On Sunday morning, we awoke to a layer of snow on the ground and a prediction for lots more to come in the next 24 hours.  I made a quick decision to call the airline and change my 5pm flight reservation to the 11am flight.  Thank goodness I made that decision since I later learned that my original flight was cancelled!  I made it home safely and it was a great 24 hour trip home.

Happy 60th, Mom!!

Mimi Visit - Part 2

It was a busy week around the house and I didn't want to post too much involving our weekend visit from Mimi last week because I flew up to surprise her for her birthday party this weekend in Massachusetts.  But, we held our own little party for her last weekend...

Last Sunday, Georgia and Mimi spent the day building towers and knocking them down - one of G's favorite hobbies!

Getting taller!

On Sunday night, we took Mimi out for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Rockville - Matchbox.  It was the perfect place for a celebratory dinner since it's loud and family friendly.  Georgia had a blast watching the action at the bar and hanging out with Mimi...

Thank goodness for Bubble Guppies cards to entertain while you wait for dinner!

While we ordered a special dessert, Georgia enjoyed her Oreos!

Georgia was quite disappointed when Mimi blew out her candle.  "Again!!"  Guess we'll need a lot of candles for her next birthday cake!

Checking out that candle... and the lemon tart

Georgia was excited to help Mimi open her presents, especially the cards!

On Monday, before Mimi returned to Massachusetts, Georgia and Mimi discovered a fun new game... super heroes in capes!
